I always feel like summer is upon us once I see peaches coming out for sale at the farmer’s market. Peaches are one of my favorite fruits and they even have a color named after them. The color peach is named for the pale color of the interior flesh of the peach fruit. However, the color peach is paler than most actual peach fruits and seems to have been formulated to add to a pastel palette of colors for interior design.
I find the color peach to be comforting, possibly because it’s an association with the fruit and it’s soft fuzzy skin. It also gives a sense of joy, although not as exuberant as orange or yellow. While many people consider peach to be a feminine color, combining it with a dark navy blue creates a striking and unique color palette. I’ve posted some beautiful examples below the mood board, so you can see what this knockout color combo looks like.
Moving away from the color peach and back to the topic of one of my favorite fruits, – it’s almost peach picking season. Here in the Pacific Northwest, there are so many opportunities to head to a local farm and spend a sunny afternoon peach picking. Then you can spend the next day getting creative in the kitchen – there’s nothing better than a homemade batch of peach ice cream.
