Is there anything more refreshing than the first bright hues of green emerging after a long, dull winter? Not to me! In celebration of the onset of spring, I’m exploring the many hues and splendors of the color green.
As the second most popular color (after blue), green is a soothing color that reminds us of nature’s beauty. Whether it’s a fresh new leaf covered in dew drops or soft, fuzzy moss on a shady trail, the greens of nature remind us to renew and refresh.
Green is used worldwide as a color of safety (think first aid kits and green lights) and represents different positive things in cultures throughout the world. In Japan, green is regarded as the color of eternal life. In Mexico, the color stands for independence. And it’s the well-known national color of Ireland, representing good luck, leprechauns, clovers, and Saint Patrick’s Day.
With all the new greens surrounding us this spring, it’s a great time to remember the promise of new beginnings. Whether it’s picking up a new hobby, seeking out a new love interest, or putting a fresh coat of paint on a dull wall, spring is in the air and the time is right. What will your new beginnings look like?
